Where's The Love for the Beauty of Nature and Country?

Narra Tree is the national tree of the Philippines.The Narra-Tree is a deciduous, relatively short-stemmed tree. It can grow beautifully up to 30 meters with a trunk-scope of two to seven meters. The ground can be carpeted of fine yellow blossoms and perfumed the air with natural fragrance. The hardwood out of this tree is attractive that people would really love to have one in their houses. Everything that describes the natural beauty and characteristics of this rare tree can really make it perfect for a symbol of our beloved country, the Philippines. But, a lot of our fellowmen do not value this symbol or just appreciate beauty of nature, given the fact that they are not really that nationalistic. Maybe they cannot just appreciate anything. They hunger for something that can fill up their insatiable hole of discontentment that they can no longer see things that are good and worthy of their care and appreciation and even preservation. These trees need years to grow as tall as 30 meters but it would only take an hour for selfish people to destroy them. People who can afford to do such a thing do not have eyes that marvel at such a great artwork by the greatest Artist. They are not only blind but also greedy and selfish. Bigger things come from smaller things, just like a tree that was once a seed, I could say that if Filipinos can be as selfish as cutting trees for a small amount of money maybe they can even afford to sell this country, if given that chance and when the price is right. 

My Lolo is very nationalistic and became a Brgy. Captain for more than 20 years. He is a sort of environmentalist too that in his administration he was able to have these narra trees planted along the road. 

 After 40 days of his passing, this is what happened to the narra trees. I don't know if these trees can still survive and if they can, how many years would it take to have those branches and leaves back again. How can people afford to do this when we really need cool air and oxygen at this crucial time? Reforestation should be the appropriate project not charcoal making for livelihood programs.

Let us make this world a better place to live in, not just for ourselves but also for the generations to come.
